With its atmospheric farmhouse fitout, three-winery cellar door, greatest-hits breakfast list (Benedict, muesli, baked beans) and decent coffee, it’s not surprising the Merricks Store packs ’em in. But lunch is the real attraction. Chef Chris Roberts turns out nicely judged, clean-flavoured dishes – a superb warm chicken salad, spicy steamed local mussels, addictive chicken and leek pot pie – that are among the region’s best.
