Mesa Verde

Mexican$$

Rattle up to the sixth floor of Curtin House and mosey into lazy, louche Mesa Verde. The sounds of Johnny Cash fill the air while Sergio Leone films flicker on the back wall. The Mexican menu puts a bright spin on things (including wild mezcal-based cocktails), like prawn tacos with soy beans and mint, or a slab of grilled queso fresco served with zippy pickled mushrooms and quince; there are heftier, meatier dishes too. Little spicy school prawns are great to nibble over beers and conversation, although expect silence to fall when you crack into a boozy Patron XO Cafe creme brulee.
