Josh Nicholls and Ai Mashima moved Cafe Ish out of Surry Hills and into the Redfern 'hood in an effort to keep prices down. It's not the most glammy location, or interior, but the hordes don't care. They're here for the highly personal (read wacky) take on the milk bar of old - and for prices that are indeed kept down. The menu free-ranges from baked brekkie ramen to a Korean burger to 'freaking awesome chicken wings'; the Coffee Alchemy coffee ($3.50) is earthy and spicy, and the shakes and sundaes are a hoot. This is the kookiest rendition of the old ma-and-pa milk bar you'll find on the planet.
