Milkwood

Cafe

With the 96 tram terminus right outside the door, it's a miracle this tiny oasis of calm, kitchen craft and coffee isn't flooded with KeepCup-clutching commuters. Di Korndorffer and Alex Paterson (ex-Rosamond) have the Midas touch: whitewashed walls, crotcheted hanging plants and a country church-like weatherboard ceiling provide a genteel charm. Milkwood's flat whites are silky and strong with a lingering sweet, caramel finish, the perfect companion for some sublime ricotta pancakes with house-made lemon curd, strawberries and mint. The cakes cabinet is noteworthy, too.
