Mina-no-ie

Japanese$$

Wholesome Japanese home-cooking is calmly served in this converted warehouse. Mina-no-ie, which translates to ‘everyone’s home’, is a source of nourishment and comfort. The owners, Zenta and Megumi Tanaka (who also own Cibi), have created a monthly changing menu that combines local produce with Japanese smarts. Simple breakfasts might include avocado on toast with parsley and pink peppercorns, and ‘mum’s scrambled eggs’ with tamari and mizuna, while lunch is like a bento box with an urban makeover - a selection of meat, fish or vegetables with salads; perhaps nashi and fennel, or grains such as brown rice and quinoa.
