Mirka Continental Bistro

14.5/20

European$$$

You can't help but feel warm and fuzzy looking at the beautifully distinctive Mirka Mora murals in the dining room of the Tolarno Hotel - the Grossi empire's

St Kilda outpost. Service is slick and continental, with lovely accents that match the classic European bistro menu. Crisp, salty polenta chips arrive to generously welcome you. Entrees might include pastry-wrapped spiced lamb cigars with pistachio and pickled carrot or cured scallop crudo with heirloom radishes, a touch of chilli heat and bursts of finger lime. Egg yolk and ricotta ravioli with beurre noisette and pancetta is hard to improve on. That is until you order a side of truffled fries with dipping egg. A whopping beef short rib might come with paprika glaze, and piquillo peppers. Most tables will see a 'Bomb La Mora' with meringue, chocolate, ice-cream and strawberries - and so they should.
