Fun fact: instant ramen was once voted the greatest Japanese invention of the 20th century- by the Japanese themselves. Not that you'll find anything but freshly hand-pulled wheat noodles at this institution but it's testament to the appeal of this stomach-filling staple. The decor here has seen better days, but the flavours (and value) are sound. Opt for a gyoza combo- three pan-fried dumplings bursting with pork and spring onion and a shoyu (soy-based) soup with sliced roast pork, veg and, of course, those springy, slurpy noodles.
