Thai

The mantra at Mons Ban Sabai is to pay a great deal of attention to the three culinary senses: it is aromatically, visually and flavour-wise, both striking and exotic. The philosophy isn't confined to the kitchen - the restaurant is immaculately kept in a fresh, neat take on traditional Thai with royal purple applied to sharply plastered walls complete with sculpted recesses housing sculptures. However, it is the blend of contemporary vision and traditional Thai dishes that defines the place. Chicken larb plays its heat and saltiness against the bright tang of fresh mint and lime in startling form; Chiang Mai curry (in this case chicken but take your pick of protein) works more subtly - its spicy complexity tamed by coconut cream and balanced by the crunch of fresh vegetable florets. Seafood lovers will find a wealth of choice, led by a sultry dish of softshell crab pad prik - hot and spicy. BYO means no shocks when it comes to paying the bill.
