Montagu

A cafe that's named after the legendary inventor of the sandwich had better make a good one. And that's the thrust of the compact menu at sunny little Montagu. It's tucked into the Ernest Street strip and spilling out to the pedestrian area, and they're serious about sandwiches. From roast pork, pear and walnut to sugo-rich Mediterranean meatball or an all-day breakfast of ham, buttered leek and gruyere, fillings come wedged into generous slices of Infinity Sourdough and Brasserie Bread. There are salad options too, from Moroccan roast lamb to free-range chicken, while coffee and teas hail from Single Origin. Check the blackboard walls lit by oversized naked light bulbs for daily specials.
