Moons Espresso Bar

Contemporary

If the beach looks surprisingly empty, chances are the hordes are at Moons. It’s a collision of retro beachside and sleek city inside this narrow cafe, where young staff churn out smooth coffee and simple but flavour-fuelled food. Towering Turkish pides are the star, bursting with roasted mushroom, lemony saganaki and capsicum hummus, say, or smoked salmon, mascarpone, chilli and rocket. Early morning surfers enjoy fresh juice and crunchy Irrewarra granola heady with cinnamon, honey and banana; or the aptly named ‘Mexican’ (two poached eggs topped with spicy chorizo, tomato salsa, coriander and goat’s cheese). Now, time for the beach.
