Mr Miyagi

Japanese$$

Spying a Nippon niche in the Windsor dining scene, the collaborators behind Mr Miyagi have scored a knock-out. Seductive booths, polished concrete and linear blond-timber lines evoke memories of Tokyo but with unmistakably modern Melbourne DNA. Mr Miyagi delivers on its promise of ‘Japanese food and liquor’. Ridiculously delicious nuggets of battered corn kick things off; next try a buttery cracker topped with raw tuna and dashi sorbet. There’s excellent sashimi and spring onion and scallop pancakes. Miyagi Fried Chicken (MFC) in a branded takeaway-style box is spicy, crunchy and juicy. Like for his Master, a cult following grows.
