Munsterhaus

371 St Georges Road, Fitzroy North, Victoria

Maybe it’s the daylight streaming through the broad windows on two sides, or the everything-in-its-place eclecticism of the decor (part Deco, part diner) but there’s something instantly welcoming about this cool all-veg eatery. There are no airs, but plenty of graces, and the pick-and-mix menu is just as comforting without a drizzle of pretension. Choose from three bowl sizes and get to work: try bitey chilli tofu squares with a hint of grapefruit, fried nuggets of okra with cauliflower, and a smoky lentil dhal firm enough to prevent bleeding into the dozen other options that might be heaped up around it.
