My Chinese Kitchen

Chinese$$

Mid-2011 saw long-time Fairfield favourite Jenmy move to this larger, somewhat sleeker Burwood site, picking up a new name along the way. The menu, thankfully, hasn't changed much, offering about 160 dishes including Nanjing specialities such as Nanjing duck, salted, twice-cooked on the bone, chopped and served cold. Juicy buns are basically soupy pork-filled Shanghai-style dumplings ('but better, ' insists charming host Lisa Wang). Try the yuxiang ('fish fragrance') dishes - fried strips of eggplant with pork mince, ginger, soy and Sichuan pepper, or melting braised pork ribs with five-spice and shallots - and you'll be proud to call this 'Your' Chinese Kitchen. Service, as in the Jenmy days, is swift and smiling.
