This impressive three-storey building with its wide verandahs and high ceilings is a classic old Aussie pub, and just about every seat was taken in the indoor dining room on the Sunday afternoon when we visited. The menu is diverse in price and range, and the specials board comprehensive. The $13.90 mega works burger hit the spot after some time spent sampling Hunter wine country's finest, and the $18 chicken breast schnitzel with chips, gravy and salad filled the plate. The cook sends meals to the table quickly, helped by a personable waitress. Children will love the new play equipment.
