New Dragon BBQ House

Chinese

Opposite Auburn train station, a window display of glistening barbecued pork, Peking duck, chicken feet, duck wings and more makes for serious temptation. The duck stars: have it in two or three courses, or take your pick of protein with rice or noodles, or choose a barbecue platter with the works. While service is taciturn and the room lacks charisma - tiled floor, cream-coloured walls, bar tissue-box topped tables - there's joy to be found in a dish of luscious tofu and barbecued pork with mushrooms, broccoli and baby corn, and plenty of other gems in an epically long menu including hotpots, congee, soups, stir-fries and more. Servings are large and Cantonese rules, but South-East Asian dishes make occasional cameos, too.
