New Lots

A former corner milk bar in an industrial zone, New Lots sports a Brooklyn-inspired makeover, with yawning windows, lofty ceilings and blond-brick facade, plus wood and steel to underscore the gritty urban mood. At breakfast, eggs might come with lively tomato salsa, hot salami and cheddar, or fried with gherkin, onion and a lick of mustard. Huge hotdogs come loaded with, say, fennel coleslaw, chilli con carne and fiery mustard, and the 'turbo' burger gets its charge from spicy chilli sauce, mayo and ketchup. And to drink? Doss Blockos, a Victorian microbrew named for a New York squat.
