Niji Sushi Bar

Niji’s sushi train, which snakes its way around the kitchen, is Orient Express when it comes to quality, but Tangara in terms of price. The inventiveness of the sushi plates doesn’t surprise given the head chef is ex-Toko, and the a la carte menu is equally creative. Among the marvels are wafu-marinated zucchini, grilled, with apple, onion and pear puree; and miso-marinated smoked salmon with vegies and sweet potato wafers. The five weekly specials, which may include a hearty pancake of pork, cabbage and bean sprouts, are yet another cause for return visits to this welcoming, stylish spot.
