North Island

Contemporary

Like a New Zealand expat who's lost the accent, there's nothing particularly 'Kiwi' about North Island. Except, perhaps, their expert treatment of beans roasted by NZ company Supreme. A carefully pulled, medium-bodied long espresso satisfies with its creamy mouthfeel and balanced spiced caramel flavour. If you're peckish, the straightforward menu includes Coco Pops, home-made baked beans and tasty filled pides, and the no-nonsense approach applies to the decor, too - all pine box seats and white walls. Hide away in the shady courtyard with chocolate rum balls: they're just like your (Kiwi) nanna used to make.
