Northies has captivating views across the road to the park fronting North Cronulla beach, and the wide front deck is a magic place to sit. A new head chef has revved the menu up a few notches in the last year, and the food is excellent. A lamb backstrap with gorgonzola and fig tarts is richly flavoured, while a butternut pumpkin, baby beetroot and fetta salad is yummy, and a king-prawn linguini with basil and cherry tomatoes is lightly (but nicely) spiced. Dessert is the highlight – an opulent chocolate fondant straight from the oven, served with strawberries and vanilla ice-cream. Wonderful.
