Oriental Ricebox

Thai$$

This cosy one-room Thai eatery is a welcome respite from rundown car yards and photocopy shops on a lonely strip of the Hume Highway. Don’t be deceived by the utilitarian-sounding ‘dinner boxes’: all dishes are served elegantly on gleaming white plates. The entree mix samples spring rolls, crunchy chicken satay, buttery curry puffs and salty fish cakes, while the green curry chicken and chilli beef are spicy but not overpowering. For those who prefer sweet to heat, the ‘Mosman’ Curry is as good as any massaman in the city, with creamy potatoes and tender hunks of beef.
