Greek$$

Teeny tiny Ousia, with its quaint split-level room and smattering of tables beneath crystal chandeliers, sits amid a handful of shops on a residential street. Locals adore it for the good coffee and lovingly prepared food heavily indebted to the Mediterranean. At breakfast you might find eggs cooked within a feta-laden tomato stew in a petite copper pan or thick-cut French toast with Greek honey and a sprinkling of sesame seeds. More soulful numbers, such as braised eggplant on a bed of burghul or lamb shanks with juniper berries cooked in red wine, might be chalked on the blackboard at lunch. For afters there's cacao cake or sticky baklava.
