Middle Eastern

Pause has been the mainstay of the largely barless Carlisle Street for more than a decade. Its Moroccan-inspired decor - blue walls and tiles, dangling tin lamps, swirling copper sculpture - gives the place a sultan's-lair ambience that encourages lounging. The wine list offers drops from Spain, Italy, France and Argentina and the beer list is similarly eclectic: you could kick back with a Kingfisher from India, a Zywiec lager from Poland or a local Dirty Granny cider. Cocktails tend toward the smooth and classic. Soak up drinks with Middle Eastern mouthfuls such as lamb and pomegranate pie and warm haloumi pocket.
