Peden's Hotel

14/20

Contemporary$$

The former Aberdare Tavern has been reborn with a spacious bar that flows seamlessly to the dining area, where floor-to-ceiling glass salutes the glorious sunshine. The menu is an impressive balance of pub favourites and restaurant-quality offerings. The flaky chicken filo is superb. It's a moist breast stuffed with succulent prawns and a hint of bacon covered in creamy garlic sauce. The twice-cooked pork belly is roasted then grilled and comes balanced on a sweet potato roesti, all drowned in a scrumptious apple cider jus. Service is cheerful, and a list of $8 cocktails is the icing on a very satisfying cake.
