Penny Farthing Espresso

Cafe$$

Airs of old-time romance grease the wheels at Penny Farthing, a fab espresso bar run by brothers Steve and Trevor Simmons. Though they may look like Victorian-era gentlemen, dressed in braces and old-fashioned hats, the pace here is snappy. There's a major coffee focus- beans are roasted and blended on site- but food never feels like second best. Think feta and avocado smashed with basil for breakfast or a sandwich of free-range ham with pickled peaches, provolone and greens for lunch. Evenings up the ante with a selection of large (penny) and small (farthing) plates such as the semolina gnocchi with pickled beetroot, rocket, pecorino and pinenuts.
