Modern Australian

A sign outside lists vegan panini and scrambled tofu, and the crackle of kids from the nearby park almost muffles low-flying screaming jets on their airport approach. This must be the new Marrickville. And this must be Petty Cash Cafe, the epitome of the perfect neighbourhood corner cafe, with its gorgeous verandah, convivial communal table, excellent caffe latte ($3.50) by Bills Beans, Mexican brekky, and good old bacon and eggs. Owner Caitlin has mastered the art of baking gluten-free brownies which taste as good as flour-based ones (she says better), making it an even finer place to deposit your petty cash.
