PHUONG

Vietnamese$$

While the main strip in Crows Nest teems with restaurants, bars and cafes, Phuong has no problem standing out from the crowd with its bright, lime green walls. Well loved by locals, this Vietnamese restaurant offers an extensive menu with a handful of Thai specialities tacked on as well. Cha gio, deep-fried spring rolls, arrive quickly, however the minced pork and crabmeat fillings are difficult to distinguish. Service is a little abrupt but their speciality sizzles. Served at the table, marinated chicken is poured onto a hotplate and comes with precise instructions: diners must hold the tablecloth up to their chins until the sizzle dies down. Practical, entertaining and delicious.
