Pizzeria Bellucci

Venice meets Vegas at a beer hall in Bankstown. Members and their guests gamble on a lottery of toppings on thin-based pizzas with a perfectly scorched crust. Jackpot dishes are the Minerva, a juicy pizza of ripe tomatoes, basil and bocconcini, or Castello, a pizza bianca of provolone cheese, Italian sausage, olive oil and rocket. The menu ventures into seafood and meat, but the wise budget diner sticks to pizza and pasta before splurging on the desserts while trying to make sense of the mock piazza surroundings. Even the attentive staff smile at the incongruity of it all.
