Porgie & Mr Jones

Cafe$$

Nice place they’ve got, these two. With a choice of dining areas as varied as the menu, this homely yet high-brow Hawthorn cafe caters to all tastes. Dive into luscious smashed avocado with thyme buttered mushrooms and marinated feta for breakfast in the laid-back front space; lunch on succulent, lentil-flecked scallops in the white-tableclothed ‘good’ room; or lounge in one of two sunny courtyard areas with a tall drink and a long baguette – the one with poached ‘happy’ chicken slapped with celery and chive mayo could be the definition of mood food. Dinner’s good, too, but it’s not under $30.
