Contemporary

In a restored terrace building with polished wooden floors, chandeliers, crisp tablecloths and crystal glassware, Reserve is an indulgent and stylish dining experience. The menu follows a similar ethos, with dishes such as black truffle and porcini risotto with fresh goat's cheese and a delicate sand crab tortellini in a rich tomato and shellfish bisque. Take in the river views and dip into mains such as a chargrilled pork fillet with a cube of smoky shredded pork belly served with lentils, apples and walnuts or pancetta-wrapped seared Clearwater scallops on a silky fennel puree. For dessert try the walnut, date and orange pudding with butterscotch sauce, complemented by a malty Guinness and currant ice-cream and brandy snaps. Or if decision-making is not your forte, go for the Reserve tasting plate and sample a little of everything. The well-meaning service might be a little inconsistent but if you have time to linger, finish off with one of Reserve's fine cognacs, armagnacs or fortifieds.
