Roller Door

Making the most of a disused garage, this cafe offers a splash of primary colour - and a damn good coffee - in the grey no-man's land of West Melbourne. Like many good things, it's hard to find, but once you're in its cute leafy courtyard or on a milk crate out front you'll discover fresh mint tea, organic sodas and Supreme coffee ($3) that's smooth and fruity with hints of butterscotch. La Madre croissants and sourdough - perhaps topped with organic eggs benedict or the Crazy Tiger of Vegemite and cheese - soothe train commuters and weekend gadabouts alike. The back of a garage in the West Melbourne wasteland supplies the roller door. La Madre supplies the croissants, and Matt Millen rustles up all-day brekkies of avo smash, eggs benedict and hits of Coffee Supreme.
