Salvage Specialty Coffee

$$

That tunnel running under Artarmon train station is your ticket away from the ’burb’s busy side to a quiet arcade and Salvage: a super casual cafe with a serious focus on coffee (beans are Mecca, baristas are magic). The weekday menu is short and simple - a hulking sandwich of thin-cut beef salami and thick-cut cheddar; sourdough toast topped with a vibrant mix of shaved fennel, cured salmon and poached egg; a salad with ‘epic herbage’. Weekends see a few sought-after additions to the menu, from indulgent croque madame to refined duck paté with glazed peach, hazelnuts and toasted brioche.
