Japanese

When teenagers proclaim 'I love that place!' you know it's going to be cheap and fast. You hesitantly take their advice that the food is great, but scepticism is dispelled at first bite. Grilled eel, atop rice, wrapped in a ribbon of seaweed is an ideal starter, along with a generous plate of salmon sashimi. Mains include satisfying plates of fish teriyaki (it's basa, an inexpensive but tender fish) and chuukadon, a bowl of saucy, chunky pieces of chicken and vegetables. It's a no-frills, eat-and-leave place. Don't bring mum for her birthday, for instance. Uni students and Hawthorn footballers swarm through... get the vibe?
