Pitt Street Westfield is black-sheen chic, but city punters brave the escalator maze for the food on level five that’s all about street. An offshoot of the Chinta Ria restaurants, Sassy’s Red – bright and buzzing – simultaneously stands out and fits in with its surrounds. Glowing red signage features a mish-mash of funky fonts and there’s a crowded wall of eclectic sauce bottles. Billy barbecue chicken and vermicelli noodle stir-fry is homely with simple soy flavour and refreshingly light on oil. Laksa is warming and mellow, with fish cake, tofu and generous amounts of chicken. It’s ‘street’ with a glimmer of class.
