Crafted from a shipping container and packing crates and sited in a laneway car park, Section 8 looks so impromptu that it could disappear tomorrow, but it survives in a state of blissful decay. For visitors, it's an unmissable stop on the 'Quintessentially Melbourne' tour. The crowd blends suits, creatives and borderline gypsies sipping G&Ts, Melbourne Bitter longnecks and cheeky cocktails. Jugs filled with drinks such as Grandma's Peach Punch Pitcher quench the thirst of a party of three and cocktails like the Rummy Rambler are well priced and surprisingly well made considering they're emerging from a hacked-together shipping container.
