Simone de Beauvoir would have embraced this long, narrow salon, with its sophisticated melange of art, jewellery, good wine, coffee and food. Intricately mosaiced floors team up with distressed, recycled furniture, art on shelves and walls, glass cabinets filled with artisan and retro jewellery, and sweet and savoury treats. Self Preservation is much loved by lone diners, testament to the quality of the service and the comfortable atmosphere the staff create. A blackboard offers a brief but thoughtful selection of wines by the glass and a beer to accompany Italian-inspired dishes.
