Shop Ramen

Japanese

This ain’t no ordinary noodle joint. It started life as a 10-day pop-up eatery, but in its new permanent digs Shop Ramen retains the unconventional attitude. A salted caramel milkshake to wash down your smoked tofu and pepita steamed buns? Waistline-busting (but oh-so-dreamy) banana pie on the side? Why not. As for the main event, satisfyingly firm ramen noodles are cranked through a pasta machine then ladled into your choice of broth: free-range pork; a rich meaty number with peanuts, celery and tender Tasmanian beef; or a silky cashew-based soup topped with shiitakes and boiled egg. The menu’s tiny, but that hasn’t stopped crowds of Collingwood coolsies lining up.
