Contemporary

Cross the road from The Enmore theatre to find this testament to American flavours, a passion of Hungarian proprietor George Reiterbauer, who lived in the States for five years. An alternative clientele, some sporting the same hair tint as the burgundy interior, wake up to brews of unusual leather and blue cheese-noted Sacred Grounds organic PNG coffee ($3) and feeds of breakfast burritos with chicken and black beans, and New York bagels with cream cheese, smoked salmon and capers. Creative lunch specials are scrawled on a guitar-shaped blackboard: think Tex Mex crocodile and prawn skewers or a Creole chicken salad.
