Apart from the big pink LED fairy tree/burbling water-feature, this place is elegant, with a wine wall, dark-wood seats, linen and engaging service. Where some places pile a dozen dumplings on a plate, Simply Dumpling places just three or four. Good things come in threes: juicy steamed prawn dumplings, crab potstickers, green-skinned veg dumplings plump with sweetcorn and cabbage. The lunch yum cha degustation (Monday to Saturday) gets you nine courses for $20 a head. But it’s not simply dumplings; share golden salty-not-so-peppery calamari, sang choy bao and a main, like Sichuan chicken or crisp-fried noodles tossed with beef.
