Sonoma Bakery Cafe

The Connole family spent 15 years building Sonoma into a baking powerhouse that supplies some of Sydney's top cafes and restaurants, including Sepia, Est and Quay. Take a seat in the dramatically dark tube of their cafe HQ, where windows reveal the action in the adjoining bakery as if they were flatscreens. Needless to say, it's the toast with the most that sustains the local workers, and weekends bring fat burgers as well. Coffee changes seasonally thanks to a partnership with Single Origin Roasters, with an autumn blend Roadster that comes on rich, spicy and medium-bodied, with hints of toffee and caramel that work well with milk ($3.50).
