Opened in 2006, pre-small bar rush, this charming laneway bar is accessed by texting a password to a number pinned to an unmarked door in a shadowy alley (it sounds harder than it is; just don’t forget your mobile phone). Upstairs, you’ll find a packed room with cascading lights, sprawling armchairs and graffiti art walls. The limited menu changes daily, focusing on home-style classic comforts – think juicy crumbed lamb cutlets with beetroot puree and rocket. On Wednesdays there’s a $15 roast dinner with a glass of wine. Seats fill fast, but hold out until 8pm when those heading downstairs to eat at Table for 20 free up space.
