Japanese$$

You might be surprised, but you definitely won't be disappointed, by the fast, fresh, tasty and low-priced food on offer at this pleasant neighbourhood hole-in-the-wall with warm-orange lanterns hanging in the doorway. The sushi and sashimi are super fresh, the cooked rolls of tuna, chicken and beef are generous in size and unusually succulent, and service is predictably agreeable. With the limited space, low tables and frequent crowds - including more than a few people outside, waiting for takeaway - you're more likely to want to stop off here en route to a day or night out in the East Sydney area than make a special trip of it.
