Sushi Samurai

Japanese$$

An extensive list of specials, banquets and a la carte options covers everything from sushi and sashimi to teriyaki, tempura and noodles. Consider the menu over a craft Japanese beer and relax into the warmth of golden walls and friendly staff. Pull-apart chunks of aromatic pork belly, served ‘Peking duck style’ – with small pancakes and spring onion for wrapping – is a top pick. A lunchbox set of wickedly sweet teriyaki salmon, served with rice, miso soup and silken agedashi tofu, is excellent value. Tatoyaki prawns were small and hard, but saved by the comforting batter ball they’re cooked in and a well-balanced salad they’re served on.
