Taco Mafia

Mexican

As taquerias go, this one’s a cutie. Run by ‘real Mexicans’ (we’re told), the tiny shop plays on a gun-runner motif with bullet-pocked car doors propping up the counter and sinister red splashes across the stools. The food’s a cut above: burritos, tacos and quesadillas on better-than-average soft tortillas with grilled steak, carnitas (that’s pulled pork to you) or grilled chicken inside. Add good guac, pico de gallo, daily mega burrito specials and organic hibiscus tea as well as Mexican sodas, and it’s a fun place to fuel up. There’s a sister cantina in the Hunter, too.
