Modern Australian$$

There's passion in the food here, with a pan-seared dory from the specials board the highlight of the night (loved the beautifully crisp vegetables). A crispy confit duck leg with excellent gnocchi and wild mushrooms is a tasty, gamey, rich bellyfull. The tasting plate of starters is a bit heavy overall but the salt-and-pepper squid stands out with bite and softness. A lighter touch (and a little less oil) here and there wouldn't go amiss. We'll return for the wryly named pizzas (Tree Hugger, Crouching Tiger). Service is friendly and solicitous. Renovation plans for this cavernous space must include making the entrance more welcoming.
