The Belvedere Hotel

13/20

This three-storey pub has an elevator for the fitness challenged that will take you to a pokie penthouse and the pocket-sized roof garden. It's all cosy, comfortable and familiar, from the doona-sized succulent house-made chicken parmigiana to the moreish nachos with big-hearted dollops of sour cream and guacamole. But both the squid and veal rack needed a heavier hand with the seasoning. Staff are knowledgeable and proactive: 'The chef wasn't happy with the veal so he's doing it again, sorry can I get you some drinks on the house?' Now that's service.
