Have your say
Nestled in the shadow of the Polly Woodside, next to Jeff's Shed, the Boatbuilders Yard brings life to this fairly soulless precinct. Essentially it's a giant decked beer garden with two covered bars, barbecue facilities, a likeable all-hours menu and a gelati stall. Designed by Six Degrees for the guys behind Riverland (page 43), it attracts a smart after-work crowd, which laps up a decent range of tap beers and a wine list that includes a tasty Calo tempranillo from Rioja. It's made for long summer nights, but heaters mean it can withstand winter's worst. Watching the sun set over the city is a seriously sexy way to end the working week.
The sister bar to Riverland (just upstream), this bar uses its Yarra-side location to great effect with glassed-in pavilions, a user-friendly drinks list and even a gelati stall.
