The Bridgeview Hotel

Good Food hatGood Food hat16/20

The centrepiece of the clubby, elegant Bridgeview is a fine-dining room; the chef also delivers a superior bar menu. A tomato tart, cooked in vincotto and garnished with a sugared frizz of green, was zesty; prawn and pancetta rigatoni cooked in creme fraiche was delicious. The Juicy Lucy burger is a standard but tasty beef offering, while a chorizo-and-chicken combo is a nice idea that didn't quite work. To finish, a raspberry souffle (the friendly waiter said it would take 15 minutes and offered us complimentary drinks) was outstanding, enhanced by a rich chocolate sauce and vanilla ice-cream. We'll be back.
