The Carrington

Good Food hat15/20

Contemporary$$

Crowds are fighting to get into the Carrington's Spanish restaurant, Beba y Cene, with its inviting nooks, dazzling parquetry floors, Moorish tiles and hip menu. It features changing tapas-style dishes: snacks such as hot olives, a meatball slider, sandwiches with inventive fillings - prawn and chorizo, anyone? - and vibrant mains such as braised cuttlefish with chickpeas, savoury and creamy, or the 'nose-to-tail' pie. Going up-market for luscious beef cheeks is a good choice, as are all the surf 'n' turf 'n' lentils variations. Both the deconstructed Pedros sherry trifle and the cake-like churros con chocolate, provide satisfyingly sweet finishes.
