The Carrington

Contemporary$$

With fantastic sandwiches and burgers in the front, a Spanish brunch on weekends and Beba Y Cene, a tapas-and-pintxos restaurant, at the back, this is a pub refurb done very, very right. The staff look like they’re having as much fun as the patrons, and serve cocktails (try ‘Aperolling With Bulls’) and Spanish nosh to a packed room. To start there’s a slider with a crunchy tangle of calamari, haberno mayo and coleslaw, or toast spread with the spicy Majorcan sausage sobrassada and goat’s cheese. Larger dishes include squid stuffed with morcilla or an earthy vegetable mess of lentils, chickpeas, pumpkin, cauliflower and saffron yoghurt.
