The Clock Hotel

14/20

This is a popular, smart pub where the stools on the balcony overlooking cosmopolitan Crown Street are highly sought-after. Service is helpful and friendly - staff bring your meals to you. The 300-gram Angus steak was ordered medium-rare but arrived medium and a bit tough, while a chicken breast came on a tasty sweet potato mash and, with the mushroom farce stuffing, was the better of the two. Dishes are plated restaurant-style rather than the usual slapdash bistro approach, and the sight of the good-looking meals being walked around encourages you to order one with your drink.
